Launched for limited beta, Amazon.com is entering the arena for online payments by providing a platform that web developers can use to build into their ecommerce applications. It’ll be interesting to see how the PayPal vs. Google vs. Amazon battling plays out. Amazon has roughly 69 million users which will be able to log in to their account from your store front to complete their payment.

From Amazon:

Amazon Flexible Payments Service (Amazon FPS) is the first payments service designed from the ground up specifically for developers. The set of web services APIs allows the movement of money between any two entities, humans or computers. It is built on top of Amazon’s reliable and scalable payment infrastructure.

My next step is to dig deeper and find out how smoothly it will work, which will be an indication of the receptiveness from buyers.
